Clarence Padilla, chairperson of the Des Moines Symphony Negotiations
Committee, has reported that the proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement
for 2006-09 has passed in the mail-in election of AFM orchestra members.
In an era where many orchestras are cutting back on benefits and compensation,
Des Moines Symphony members will receive raises of 3% in 2006-07,
5% in 2007-08, and 5% in 2008-09 – another outstanding job by the
Committee, whose other members are Misha Rosenker, Sherida Josephson, Kathy Slocum,
Jonathan Sturm, and Bret Seebeck. Also passing was a request
by the Orchestra management for Mediacom to broadcast the June 30
Yankee Doodle Pops concert and replay it on July 2 and 3. Web Site Statistics for December – May
