Music Under The Stars Dates Announced

The 60^th Season of Music Under The Stars begins June 11, and continues for nine Sundays through August 6. Performance times are the same as last year – 7:30–8:30 for the main groups, and 6:30–7:15 for the opening acts. In 2006, for the first time in many years, the Des Moines Municipal Band, conducted by Dan Hartzer and Karla Killinger, will perform six of the nine concerts. This additional performance has been made possible through the generosity of the Karl and Evelyn Killinger Music Performance Fund. The official schedule for the main groups:

June 11 – The Big Band Sound

June 18 – Des Moines Municipal Band

June 25 – Des Moines Municipal Band

July 2 – Iowa Military Veterans Band

July 9 – Des Moines Municipal Band

July 16 – Des Moines Municipal Band

July 23 – Des Moines Municipal Band

July 30 – Des Moines Municipal Band

August 6 – Ballyhoo Foxtrot Orchestra

We are hiring small groups to perform in the 6:30 slots. We may also be hiring additional stage crew on nights the Municipal Band performs. Contact the Local at Local75@afm.org or 255-1398.

SecondQuarter Meeting

The second quarter General Membership Meeting of the Des Moines Musicians’ Association, Local 75, American Federation of Musicians, will be held 5:00 pm, Sunday, May 7 at King Ying Low’s, 223 4^th St. in Des Moines. If you’ve never attended a meeting, maybe you’d like to attend. You can meet other musicians and make your voice heard. Dinner is provided.
